The outside of the House of Frankenstein during the day (above) and at night (below).
The House of Frankenstein was the first castle on Clifton Hill near the hotel we were staying, so it was the first haunted ride we entered. The outside of the ride was cluttered with various scenes and props; the most notable was the demon gargoyles which were classic 70's style horror, and the flashing lightning bolts. Frankenstein eating a hamburger on top of the Burger King side is something we could all do without.
Even Frankenstein's monster sold out. |
We purchased tickets that were about 10 dollars and headed into the ride. This was the first ride so we didn't know what to expect.

There were a few live actors running around trying to scare you but mostly it was stunts and various scenes, some following the Frankenstein story and others having nothing to do with Dr. Frankenstein or his monster.
A section from the House of Frankenstein brochure. |
A section of the attraction had several glass coffins complete with bodies. |
A shot of Frankenstein's monster inside his cell. |
There were also fun house type props like bumpy walls and foam floors. My favorite section was a little theater area showing the original black and white version of Frankenstein with benches where you could sit down and watch.
A television sphere that played the original B&W version of Frankenstein inside the attraction. You could sit down on benches and watch the film. |
The television was surrounded by mirrors which gave the appearance of a television sphere, looking pretty bizarre. On a scale of 1 through 5, I give this haunted attraction a 3.
